Wingzy - Flight Search Aggregator Design

A transparent and inclusive flight booking platform designed with accessibility, fixed prices, and trust at its core.

Role

UX/UI Design Intern

Industry

Travel & Tourism

Duration

2 months

1. Problem

Flight aggregators often advertise great deals but create confusion through sudden price changes, unclear policies, and poor customer support. Travelers feel uncertain and stressed, questioning whether they can trust the platform, what happens if their plans change, and whether airlines will meet their needs. For people with disabilities, the situation is even harder: existing platforms rarely provide reliable ways to find affordable tickets that also include the accessibility features they need for safe and comfortable travel.

2. Solution

My goal was to design a booking experience that feels transparent, reliable, and user-centered. By grounding the process in deep research, I restructured flows to make search, booking, and filtering intuitive while ensuring accessibility and trust were built into the product from the start.

3. Research

Competitive Analysis
I reviewed leading platforms like Skyscanner, Kayak, Google Flights, and Infobus to understand what worked well and where users struggled. The analysis showed strong search tools and competitive pricing but revealed consistent pain points such as last-minute fare changes, unclear refund policies, and poor accessibility support.

User Interviews and Reviews
Through user interviews and review analysis, I identified two core personas: frequent travelers seeking reliability and transparency, and travelers with accessibility needs who often felt excluded. Their feedback emphasized the importance of clear policies, trustworthy partners, and better filtering options.

Empathy Mapping and Personas
I translated findings into empathy maps and user personas, capturing frustrations like hidden fees, disappearing sellers, and the lack of disability-friendly filters. This allowed me to prioritize solutions around transparency, accessible design, and meaningful filtering.

Opportunity Mapping
Using value proposition design and SWOT analysis, I aligned user pain points with product opportunities, focusing on fixed pricing, verified partners, accessibility tags, and clear filters.

4. Prototype Development

Wireframing
I structured flows around the three most important steps: search, find, and book. Wireframes explored how to make these tasks effortless, with filtering and accessibility options always visible.

High-Fidelity Prototyping
I built detailed prototypes showcasing the redesigned booking experience. These highlighted key improvements such as accessible filters, fixed-price guarantees, and clearer booking confirmations.

User Interface Design
I refined the interface with a clean, modern visual identity inspired by travel simplicity. The design emphasized green tones for trust and calmness, paired with clear typography for readability. UI decisions focused on balancing aesthetics with functionality to reduce stress and make booking feel secure.

5. Outcome

The result is Wingzy, a flight platform designed around trust, clarity, and inclusivity. Travelers can now search, filter, and book with confidence, supported by transparent pricing, verified partners, and accessibility features often missing in competitors. The project demonstrates how deep research, empathy-driven design, and thoughtful UI choices can turn a stressful process into a reliable and user-friendly journey.
